Winter is in full swing, and we can't help but be excited about all of the winter decor we get to add all throughout our homes. The winter season is a great time to sweep away all of our Christmas decor and add soft, cozy, and warm embellishments.
We love how simple it can be to transform your home in the winter to create a warm and cozy environment that makes you want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and read a book, watch your favorite movie, or sip hot cocoa while watching the flames dance in the fireplace.
Instead of bringing in more stuff, simply change items out seasonally. This goes for pillow covers, candles, artwork on your walls, and even the wreath on your front door. Here are 5 easy ideas to create coziness in your home this winter!
Add Pillows and Throws
Wintertime here in the Midwest can be so COLD, so decor like oversized throw pillows and knit blankets are the perfect way to instantly make any room feel warm and cozy.
One of the easiest ways to change the look, feel, and seasonal style of your room is to change your pillow covers! It’s one of my favorite tricks for a cozy living room, and it’s easy to learn how to mix and match patterns and styles.
Blankets and throws are a necessity in our cozy home at all times of the year! Simply store them away in a pretty basket when not in use if you don’t love the look of draping blankets across an ottoman, sofa, or chair. They add instant cozy living feels.
Add Light with Candles
You can never have too many candles in the winter. They make your space feel magical and add so much warmth to a room. Candlelight has such a pretty glow and will make any room extra cozy and romantic. Light up your winter nights with candles!
Bring the Outdoors Inside
Winter decor doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple things like the greenery and natural elements are some of my favorite winter decor staples. One decor element that I use from fall until spring is pinecones, and they are perfect for decorating in the winter. I like to put them in bowls and tuck them in vignettes or other arrangements that add a touch of a winter wonderland inside. So don’t put them away with the rest of your Christmas decorations and use them instead!
Decorate Your Fireplace Mantel
Decorating your fireplace mantel is so easy in the winter. Simply remove the Christmas elements and leave the greenery, candles, and pinecones in order to reuse and transform your fireplace into a mantel perfect for winter.
Create a Simple Winter Centerpiece
Keep your winter centerpiece simple. You can create a focal point on your table simply by adding some greenery and a candle. Incorporate greenery either by displaying a mini tree, adding pinecones and greenery to a bowl, or adding outdoor branches or fake plants to a glass vase.
A cozy home is one that feels welcoming, comfortable and warm. You can achieve a cozy aesthetic no matter your personal design style or taste, so do what you love! Your home should be a reflection of you and filled with the things that make you happy. Trends will come and go, so the most important thing to remember when styling the perfect cozy winter home is that there are no rules. When it comes to loving your home, it is the old, the new, the hand-me-down, the collected, and the worn but loved things in your home that make it your own.
