Favorite Fall Festivities

As the leaves change colors and the crackle of fire sets our hearts aflame, the urge to hibernate becomes difficult to resist. But fall doesn’t mean it’s time to take cover – there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you and your family occupied. If the weather does take a turn for the cold, there’s also no shortage of fun indoor seasonal activities to stave off cabin fever and keep family time fun. We've put together a list of fall things to do with kids of all ages that is packed full of fun fall activities the entire family will love.

Outdoor fall activities

Hop on a Hayride

Sit back, relax and enjoy the clip-clopping sound of horses and viewing a golden landscape rolling by. You’ll never feel closer to your loved ones than you will snuggled up under a blanket with your breath creating little puffs of smoke in the crisp autumn air. Bring along a thermos full of hot chocolate or hot apple cider for even more enjoyment!

Go Apple Picking

Nothing says fall like apple picking. Find a local apple orchard near you and learn about all the different varieties available in order to pick the best apples of the bunch. You will love walking through the apple grove! All ages can enjoy this activity while eating fruit, climbing trees and taking breaks to pause for family pictures.

Try a Corn Maze

Nothing says autumn like running around a snaking maze of corn. This family activity is fun for everyone and a great way to burn off energy and capture fun pictures! Whether you get hopelessly lost or run through the entire maze without looking at the map once, we're sure you're going to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Host a Bonfire

Make a big, cozy bonfire to gather around with your loved ones and spend the evening together. You can tell ghost stories, roast hotdogs, make s'mores, and enjoy the each others company in the ambiance a crackling fire creates. Expert tip: try to encourage everyone to leave their phones inside!

Take a Color Walk

For a little autumn adventure, gather the family and set out on a bright color walk. Keep your eyes open for colorful fall foliage and all the critters and birds bustling about gathering food for winter. Bring along some roasted pumpkin seeds for a taste of autumn snack.

Indoor fall activities

Watch a Movie

Cuddle up together with a warm blanket and some popcorn while watching your favorite fall/Halloween movie together. To make things extra cozy, string up lights or build a blanket fort. Whether you choose to watch something scary or funny, you’ll love spending time together.

Make a Hearty Soup

On a cold fall day, warm up everyone’s tummies with a delicious, hearty homemade soup or stew like beef-and-butternut or a broccoli cheddar soup. Don't forget to add a little sprinkle of pumpkin seeds if you want! Warm the bones and delight the senses with a steaming meal that’s also nutritious.

Dip and Decorate Carmel Apples

You haven't experienced everything autumn has to offer if you haven't dipped caramel apples! There's nothing quite like the gooey deliciousness that is caramel apples. Choose your favorite variety of apples and get to work dipping and decorating your caramel apple with your favorite toppings!

Bake Some Sweet Autumn Treats

Not only does baking warm the whole kitchen and make it smell like fall, it creates a haven that will attract the whole family. Who can resist an autumn-inspired sweet treat? You can never go wrong baking a pumpkin pie or a classic apple pie to bring everyone together for some family time.

However you decide to spend your autumn, we know it will be full of wonderful memories and adventures that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to hear what you and your families do! Do you have your own fall traditions? Let us know some of your favorite fall festivities below!
