January Home Refresh Ideas

After a busy holiday season and the Christmas decorations are put away, is your home in need of some attention? It's time to throw out the every day household items that withstand the most use throughout the year and replace them with new. What better time to refresh your home than right at the start of a new year!

Even if some of these items aren't worn out, simply changing things seasonally gives your home a new feel with each passing season. We have put together some of our January home refresh ideas to help you breathe new life into your home for the new year! Keep reading to learn more ways to freshen up your space.

High Traffic Rugs

Rugs placed in high traffic areas of the house such as the foyer or doorway get a lot of day to day use and therefore wear out more quickly. This is one easy way to update your home each year and change up your personal style.

Kitchen Textiles

The kitchen is easily one of the most used rooms in your home, so it is always a good idea to keep it functioning at the highest level possible. One easy update to refresh the kitchen is adding new kitchen towels, washcloths, or a new table runner and napkins. Little touches can brighten up your kitchen in a big way.

Bath Linens

The bathroom can be overlooked when refreshing your home because we often are used to our every day routines and don't stop to think about our guests' experiences when visiting our homes. Have you ever stayed at a hotel with the fluffiest towels, or have you visited a friend's house and found yourself asking them about their towels? This is a fantastic way to refresh your bathrooms and elevate your day to day routine.

Duvets and Bedspreads

Give your bedroom a new look by changing out your bedding. Trade your silky smooth sheets and cool comforter for cozy flannel and warm weighted blankets for the wintertime. You will not only get a style refresh, but you'll sleep better, too!

Photos in Frames

A quick, easy way to give a new look to your home is by updating your family photos with more recent pictures. Whether you have family photos, artwork, or something else, you can customize your home with this simple change. You can always change your photo frames as well!

Add Some Cozy Textures

Even though the holidays are over and the holiday decor is put away, we still want our homes to be warm and cozy! One of the best ways to do this in the winter is to add in all the cozy textures, such as knit throw blankets, cable knit pillows, silky soft minky blankets, and textured throw pillows. These cozy textures create warmth and a feeling of welcome that you can customize to any style you would like!.

Switch the Scent

Have you noticed how much smell can affect our mood? Try mixing it up in your home with candles, wax melters, and diffusers to influence the feel of your environment. Try a new hand soap in the kitchen, or make some cookies and hot coco to fill the air with delicious winter scents.

We can't wait to hear all about your home's refresh. Whether you update everything or stick to one or two tried and true updates, doing what is best for you and your lifestyle is what matters most. We hope you have a wonderful new year and that you share with us what you're refreshing this January!
